Chess

“Life is like Chess.”

– Benjamin Franklin

“Chess is everything: art, science, and sport.”

– Anatoly Karpov, World Chess Champion

“Is chess good for young people? Yes! Without question. It helps them to think better, calculate plans, set goals, [and] develop self-esteem…It also helps them to develop focus that helps them in their day-to-day lives."

- Will Smith

Marshal's Background

Before most children learned how to read, Marshal studied the nuances of chess with an international grandmaster, including everything from the English and Nimzo-Indian openings to middle and end game strategies. Since the 2nd grade, Marshal has played 1000’s of games in-person, online, and by mail at blitz and at regular speeds. He has won several school and club tournaments (by frequently defeating people three times his age).

Marshal enjoys watching beginners learn the foundations and strategies of chess while developing a passion for the game and cultivating valuable life skills. He believes the art of chess can be applied to many aspects of life beyond the board.
